 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event. AKWA IBOM POLICE ARREST MAN FOR ALLEGED MURDER OF WIFE. (PHOTOS).


 

A 42-year-old man, Victor Okoh, has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for the alleged gruesome murder of his 38-year-old wife, Victoria Okoh, at their residence in Oron Local Government Area.


According to DSP Timfon John, the command's Public Relations Officer, the arrest was made following a distress call from concerned residents of the area. The police operatives stormed the building at about 5 am and arrested the suspect, who was hiding under the ceiling to evade arrest.


Preliminary investigations revealed that Victor Okoh allegedly attacked his wife with a machete over accusations of infidelity. The police recovered the machete used in the crime and deposited the corpse at the General Hospital Morgue for an autopsy.


The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, condemned the act and assured the public that justice will take its full course. He emphasized the command's commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and warned against all forms of domestic violence, urging residents to seek lawful means of resolving disputes.


The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
