 Court Jails Nine Internet Fraudsters in Benin City The Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  between March 27 to April 11, 2025 secured the conviction and sentence of nine internet fraudsters before Justice A.N. Erhabor of Edo State High Court, sitting in Benin City, Edo State. The convicts are: Desmond Aghanenu, Okolie Bright, Emeka Matthew, Anikwushe Calin, Precious Onyeka Okonkwo, Ojie Victor Emeka, Safety Tamarakuro Austin, Promise Osas Lucky and Ebi Ferguson. They were prosecuted on a separate one-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence, retention of proceeds of crime and possession of fraudulent documents. The charge against Desmond Aghanenu reads: "That you Desmond Aghanenu (m) on or about the 14th of March, 2025 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did have in your possession, documents which you knew or ought to have known contained false pretence, thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 6 a...

_Directs immediate release of two suspects allegedly held over minor Offence at Fegge Division_


_Makes a Stop Over at the  Palace of Head of Northern Community in Anambra State to highlight the importance of fostering unity_


The Anambra State Commissioner of Police  *CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD* embarked on a proactive security patrol within the State today, 31st March 2025, demonstrating his commitment to maintaining Law and Order. 


One of the aspects of the patrol was the visit to the scene of the fire incident at Ifejirika by Nwangene, Onitsha. This visit was aimed at ensuring that the police personnel deployed to the area are complying with their duties to deter crime and maintain public safety. The *CP* who was on a Spot assessment regretted the unfortunate incident and proposes a meeting of the marketers/warehouse owners and relevant stakeholders for necessary measures to be taken to nip to the bud any such or related incident.


The *CP* also visited Fegge Divisional Police Headquarters where he interviewed some suspects and directed the immediate release of the two suspects allegedly held over a minor offence.


In another development, the Onitsha Bus Drivers Association in solidarity with the Commissioner of Police pledged support to the Command to improve security and safety in Onitsha, especially on the total return of economic activities in the town. 


The *CP* also visited the head of Northern community in Anambra to promote a sense of belonging and inclusivity, which are essential for maintaining peace and stability in the State. He also emphasized the importance of fostering unity among all residents, regardless of their ethnic background.


Other places visited and patrolled include the Main Market Divisional Headquarters, Building Materials, Onitsha Headbridge and some other strategic areas in the State. 


The Command shall continue to explore community policing principles to build trust between the Police and the public.
