 ZIMBABWEAN COUPLE DEPORTED OVER SECRET BURIAL OF CHILD IN BOTSWANA A Zimbabwean couple has been deported from Botswana after secretly burying their child without notifying authorities. Motilinah Mpofu and Christopher Ncube were convicted on Thursday of concealing a death after they allegedly dug a grave for their child in the dead of night. The Gaborone court heard the child had died suddenly. Instead of reporting the death to police, health officials, or traditional leaders, the couple quietly buried the youngster and hoped no one would find out. But the secret did not stay buried for long.   Police moved in and arrested the pair.  CP ORUTUGU MEETS SECTIONAL HEADS OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT, ORDERS REORGANIZATION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF POLITICAL DESK UNIT


_Proposes Acquisition of Modern Forensic Equipment to Enhance Investigations_  


The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, *CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD*, today, 29th March 2025, held a strategic meeting with the sectional heads of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to assess emerging crime trends and enhance the investigative capacity of officers within the department.


As part of efforts to strengthen intelligence gathering and security operations, the Commissioner directed an immediate reorganization of the CID Formation. He further approved the establishment of a Political Desk Unit within the department, tasked with monitoring political developments, conducting threat assessments, implementing risk management strategies, and providing security guidance for political campaigns and other sensitive events.


In addition, *CP Orutugu* proposed the acquisition of modern forensic equipment to enhance evidence analysis, improve suspect profiling, and increase efficiency in crime scene investigations. This initiative aims to align the Command’s forensic capabilities with global best practices in criminal investigations.


The *CP* emphasized that the CID Awka remains the apex investigative unit of the Command, playing a pivotal role in maintaining law and order. He reiterated that ongoing engagement with the CID leadership will provide valuable insights into operational challenges and successes, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the Anambra State Police Command.  


The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing, professional excellence, and the safety of all residents of Anambra State.
