 Renowned 20th-century philosopher Jürgen Habermas dies at 96 Jürgen Habermas, the German philosopher widely recognized for his contributions to modern political thought and democratic theory, died Saturday in Starnberg, Germany, at the age of 96. His passing was confirmed in a statement by his Berlin-based publisher, Suhrkamp Verlag, which noted that Habermas’s work, translated into more than 40 languages, had left a lasting impact on global intellectual discourse. Jonathan Landgrebe, head of the publishing house, described him as “a significant philosopher, ever-present advisor, and dear friend.” For more than six decades, Habermas helped shape postwar and post-reunification German political life. He is best known for conceptualizing the “public sphere,” a domain for discussion free from state influence, which he argued is essential for a functioning democracy.  Dubai Police Honours Winners of the Archery Competition

Dubai Police honoued the winners of the ‘Archery Competition’, one of the tournaments among the "Dubai Police Ramadan Games" held at Dubai Police Officers’ Club in Al Jaddaf. This vibrant event featured enthusiastic participants across various categories, including males, females, and children. 


His Excellency Major General Ali Ghanem, Assistant Commandant for Community  Happiness and Logistic Support at Dubai Police, presented medals to the top winners across various categories and wished them continued success in their future endeavors.


The event was attended by Brigadier Ali Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department of Community Happiness, and His Deputy Colonel Dr. Prof. Saud Al Rumaithi, and Colonel Salah Al Marzouqi, Deputy Director of the General Department of Logistic Support.


It is worth mentioning that the Ramadan Games, which align with the goals of the "Year of Community," is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, Dubai Sports Council, and Emirates NBD, alongside internal partners from various departments, stations, and councils within Dubai Police.


The tournament aims to promote a sports culture during the holy month of Ramadan, aligning with Dubai Police's commitment to organising sporting events that encourage competition, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle. The initiative underscores the importance of sports in enhancing physical health, fitness levels, character development, and overall well-being.


The tournament features 23 diverse sporting competitions designed to suit each category, including a Mountain biking challenge, Tennis, Football, Snooker, Beach volleyball, Taekwondo, Roller skating, Shooting, Chess, a 5 km running race, Traditional Emirati games, Cricket, Padel, Air rifle shooting, Calisthenics, Indoor rowing, an Obstacle course race, Swimming, Cycling, Jiu-Jitsu, a 100m sprint race, Karate, and Archery.
