  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016.  Edo Mayhem: Police Confirm 7 Deaths, Arrest of 14 Suspects


A tragic incident occurred in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, resulting in the deaths of seven people suspected to be kidnappers. According to Moses Yamu, spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, 14 suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings.


The incident unfolded on March 27, 2025, when a truck conveying 25 travelers from Port Harcourt was accosted by vigilante group members at Uromi. Some of the travelers were found with locally made dane guns and were arrested. However, the situation escalated, and 16 of the occupants were attacked and lynched by the vigilantes and passersby.


Police operatives swiftly intervened, rescuing 10 of the travelers, two of whom sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment. The police have condemned the killings and urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with the investigation.


In response to the incident, a unit of Police Mobile Force personnel has been deployed to the area to maintain law and order. The Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Isokpan, has cautioned against reprisal attacks or unlawful gatherings that may exacerbate tensions.


The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in the state due to the rising insecurity.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
