 Nigeria's Defence Minister Summons Service Chiefs Amid Surge in Attacks on Military Bases Nigeria's Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has urgently summoned the nation's top military leaders to a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja. The session addresses the escalating attacks targeting military installations, particularly in the North East region. The meeting includes key figures such as: - Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede - Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu - Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke - Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abass - Representatives from the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) The summons comes in response to recent deadly assaults by terrorists on military bases in the North East.  Embattled Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Sunday, March 23, 2025, made his first public appearance following his suspension and the declaration of a state of emergency in the state by President Bola Tinubu.

Fubara makes first public appearance after suspension

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has made his first public appearance after his suspension from office.
Fubara was seen attending a church service on Sunday at the headquarters of Salvation Ministries in GRA, Port Harcourt.
His appearance comes days after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers on Tuesday, citing political tensions and security concerns.
The declaration led to the suspension of Fubara, his deputy, Prof Ngozi Odu, and all members of the state House of Assembly.
Tinubu appointed Ibok-Ete Ibas as the Sole Administrator to oversee the state’s affairs for six months.
