 CURBING OPEN DEFECATION: LASG, WATERAID, PRIVATE SECTOR COLLABORATE TO BUILD 350 PUBLIC TOILETS IN LAGOS  The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with WaterAid Plan and private operators, is set to build 350 more public toilets across the state to curb widespread open defecation and maintain hygiene and sanitation.  This is just as the State WaterAid team lead gave a projection that by 2028, the organisation will reach 10 million residents directly and another 17 million indirectly through interventions with basic Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) access. Speaking at a roundtable over the weekend, the Special Adviser on Environment, Engr. Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu said work has started on some of the toilets including identifying the locations for them. IGP ORDERS POSTING OF CP IBRAHIM ADAMU BAKORI TO KANO STATE COMMAND


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved the posting of CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, fipma, mnim, as the new Commissioner of Police for Kano State Command. This deployment aligns with the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to enhancing security and ensuring effective policing in the state.


CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, a highly experienced and dedicated officer, has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative capacities, including as a Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of Police, and Commissioner of Police in the Homicide Section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department. His extensive experience in operations, intelligence, and security management makes him well-suited to lead the Kano State Command.


The IGP has charged CP Bakori to bring his vast knowledge and expertise to bear in ensuring the safety and security of residents of Kano State. He is expected to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor, strengthen community policing initiatives, and foster collaboration with relevant stakeholders to enhance public trust and security. The Force calls on the good people of Kano State to support the new Commissioner of Police in the discharge of his duties.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
