The Labour Party (LP) has clarified that it has not adopted any candidate or aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. In an interview, the party's National Vice Chairman, Ceekay Igara, stated that the party currently has no official candidate or aspirant at this stage.Igara emphasized that only the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Labour Party possesses the authority to adopt or endorse any candidate. He warned that any individual claiming the party has already adopted a candidate, including reports suggesting an endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term, is speaking in their personal capacity and not on behalf of the party. The statement comes amid speculation about political alignments and possible cross-party endorsements as Nigeria approaches the next electoral cycle. The Labour Party stressed that no such decision has been made, and any future adoption process will follow due party procedures through the NEC.

Natasha Akpoti's Husband Defends Her Amidst Allegations Against Senate President

Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan, the husband of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has come out in defense of his wife amidst allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The controversy began last week when Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio clashed over seating arrangements at the upper chamber.

In a recent interview, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that Akpabio made unwanted advances towards her at his office and residence in Akwa Ibom state. She claimed that she is being victimized for refusing his advances.

Akpabio's wife has released a statement defending her husband and has taken legal action. However, Uduaghan has now spoken out in support of his wife, stating that she had confided in him about her interactions with Akpabio, and he had met with the Senate President to address the issue, but nothing has changed.

Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri Kingdom, emphasized his unwavering faith in his wife's loyalty and commitment to their marriage. He urged the Senate and Akpabio to treat his wife with the respect and dignity she deserves while the relevant authorities investigate the allegations.
