 A Limpopo man who stabbed his girlfriend to death in front of his own mother will spend the next 20 years in prison. The Polokwane High Court sentenced 48 year old Nathaniel Molatelo Mokgehle from Sekonye Village in the Botlokwa policing area for the murder of his girlfriend, 41 year old Mokgadi Julia Mohlaela. The court heard he chased her out of the house and continued stabbing her until she collapsed and died. Mokgehle also received six months for malicious damage to property. The sentence will run at the same time as the 20 year murder sentence. Evidence presented in court showed the victim had previously opened a malicious damage to property case against him. He was still attending court for that case when the murder happened. The attack happened on 08 June 2025 around 16:00 at his mother’s home in Sekonye Village.  NEWLY RECRUITED TEACHERS RECEIVE APPOINTMENT LETTERS 


 The Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has officially presented appointment letters to newly recruited 448 post-primary school teachers. 


Addressing the successful applicants, the Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Victoria Mopelola Peregrino charged the recruits to give their best and ensure they upgrade themselves through constant learning and relearning.


The Chairman, who was represented by the Director, Teachers Education and Capacity Development, Mrs. Abidemi Aloba congratulated the recruits for scaling the rigorous and detailed recruitment exercises.


She urged them to know their students, strengths and challenges, as well as be creative and innovative in their teaching practices.


Mrs. Peregrino encouraged them to treat their students as their own, and embrace continuous learning to up scale their teaching skills.


She emphasised the importance of integrating technology into teaching methodology as well as adopting effective, non-violent disciplinary measures. 


She further advised the teachers on the significance of professional dressing, urging them to take the opportunity seriously by demonstrating diligence and hard work.


The Chairman concluded by encouraging the teachers to remain dedicated to their duties and be punctual in their classrooms.


The newly recruited teachers will be deployed to post-primary schools across the six education districts of the state.
