Kaitlyn Rose Laura, 31, faces charges of injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Officials said she deliberately misled medical staff about her 3-year-old son’s health to obtain a gastrostomy tube and later a gastrojejunostomy tube, despite no documented medical need. Investigators allege that hospital staff observed the boy eating normally while Laura claimed he refused all food.  Niger Assembly Approves New Electricity Regulatory Commission Members


The Niger State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of a new chairman and commissioners for the Niger State Electricity Regulatory Commission following a request from Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.


The confirmation was announced during a plenary session after Speaker Muhammad Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji read the governor’s correspondence.


The newly confirmed members are:

-Dr. Mohammed Sharu (Bida) – Chairman

-Dr. Maiwada S. Bello (Paikoro) – Commissioner for Enforcement and Consumer Affairs

-Dr. Muhammad Ameen Shakur (Bida) – Commissioner for Licensing and Regulations

-Jiro Ahmed Mohammed (Kontagora) – Commissioner for Rural Electricity Access Management

-Adamu Nagogo (Chanchaga) – Commissioner for Finance and Administration


Speaker Sarkin Daji congratulated the appointees and urged them to leverage their expertise to enhance Niger State’s electricity sector.
