Mexico says two US federal agents killed in crash were not authorized for operations inside country  Mexico’s government says two U.S. federal agents killed in a northern border-region crash were not authorized to take part in any operations on Mexican soil, raising new questions about their role in a cross-border drug lab mission. Authorities say the agents were returning from an operation targeting a clandestine drug facility in Chihuahua when their vehicle, traveling as part of a convoy, went off a ravine and exploded last weekend. Two Mexican officers also died in the incident. U.S. officials have confirmed the two Americans were CIA personnel, though their agency has declined to comment on the circumstances. Mexican officials say one of the agents entered the country as a visitor while the other used a diplomatic passport, and insist the government had no knowledge of foreign operatives conducting or planning any enforcement activity inside Mexico. OGIRI COUNTERS NWAEKE'S WIFE'S CLAIMS ON HUSBAND'S WHEREABOUTS .(PHOTO).

Ogiri counters Nwaeke’s wife’s claims on husband’s whereabouts

A former Commissioner for Power in Rivers State, Prof. Henry Ogiri, has disassociated himself from the claims of Florence, the wife of the immediate past Head of Service, George Nwaeke, he was the one who invited her husband to Abuja.

Florence, in a viral video, alleged that her husband was flown to Abuja by Ogiri and that since then the former HoS had been unreachable.

Nwaeke had since distanced himself from his wife’s claims, saying he was hale, hearty with his complete senses and was neither kidnapped nor missing.

Ogiri in a statement refuted Florence claims saying he had not spoken to Nwaeke since the Supreme Court delivered its judgement on Rivers crisis.

He said: “Of note is the fact that the woman in the viral video was accusing me of putting a call from Abuja across to her husband and had asked that the husband come over to Abuja so can discuss some certain matters. She even alleged that I offered to pay for the flight ticket of the husband. Who is supposed to pay for whose ticket?

“More worrying is the fact that the woman is asking her interviewers to tell Ogiri from Abuja to bring her husband back to her. Nothing can be further from the truth.

While Dr George Nwaeke is my friend and a professional colleague, we have only spoken once since I left the Rivers State cabinet in November 2023. I think that should be late last year or early this year”.

Ogiri explained he came to Port Harcourt from Abuja on the 28th of February 2025, the day the Supreme Court gave judgment on Rivers, and had not travelled out of Rivers.

He said: ” I have been working at our PH office while also preparing for the burial of my foster father, which took place last Saturday,  22nd of March 2025. I haven’t spoken with Dr George Nwaeke since the Supreme Court judgment.  And if this allegation was from Dr. George Nwaeke himself,  then I would have viewed this from a different perspective.

“However,  thank God telephone service providers are able to provide call logs as well as conversations thereon. And airlines are also able to provide evidence to contradict my claim of haven’t travelled out of Rivers State in the last one month.

“While we await to see how the unfolding drama and tissue of lies play out, I urge my relatives,  friends, supporters, associates,  leaders, and the general public to be rest assured that the truth shall be unveiled in no time”.
