 Anambra Government Reaffirms Mega City Drive, Demolishes Scores of Illegal Structures By Ruth Orji  The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing regeneration drive and restoration of sanity across the state through enforcement exercises and demolition of illegal structures statewide. The exercise was led by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, on July 8, in line with the Physical Planning Law of Anambra State. Stating that it is no longer business as usual, the commissioner urged residents to take every notice received from the ministry seriously and comply promptly with planning regulations henceforth. He, however, said several eviction notices had been served but were taken with a pinch of salt, adding that demolitions followed because structures defaced the environment or obstructed pedestrian walkways.  OPERATION VALA UMGODI TEAM NABS ILLEGAL MINING SUSPECT IN MOPANI DISTRICT


A 28-year-old male suspect was arrested for illegal sand mining at Molati, an unlawful mining site in the Letsitele policing area, on Tuesday, 11 March 2025, at around 20h30.


Members of the Operation Vala Umgodi task team acted on intelligence and successfully apprehended the suspect.


Authorities confiscated several items, including a cellphone, shovel, pick, bin, and buckets, which were taken to the local police station.
