 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS BOARD CHAIRMEN FOR NTA, AUTOMOTIVE COUNCIL, 21 OTHERS, AND DIRECTOR-GENERAL FOR NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL SEED COUNCIL President Bola Tinubu has appointed Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as Board Chairman of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). President Tinubu approved the appointment of Hon. Fatuhu Mohammed Buhari from Katsina State as Director-General of the National Agricultural Seed Council. The President further appointed the following Nigerians as board chairmen of various federal government institutions: Mallam Muhammad Massan, APC State Chairman, Bauchi State – Board Chairman, Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute, Ilorin. Reps In Heated Argument On Rivers Emergency Rule As House Begins Plenary

Reps in shouting match ahead of Rivers emergency rule debate


Members of the House of Representatives engaged in a heated exchange as the green chamber prepares to debate the emergency rule in Rivers State.

The shouting match began as the legislators entered the chamber ahead of Wednesday’s plenary.

As of the time of filing this report, the House had entered into session.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in Rivers following the prolonged political crisis in the South-South state.

The president also suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and members of the state assembly for six months.

Tinubu also nominated a former Chief Of Naval Staff, Vice-admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, to administer the state.

Reacting, the spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Akin Rotimi, said Tinubu informed the national assembly through a letter before the emergency proclamation.

Rotimi added that Tinubu’s letter informing the house of his decision and seeking approval on the state of emergency in Rivers in line with section 305 of the Constitution has been transmitted to the green chamber and would be read during plenary on Wednesday for further legislative action.

He said Tinubu met with the leadership of both chambers, and the National Security Adviser and Service Chiefs before the broadcast.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
