 Police probe Sallah killings in Kano, invite Emir Sanusi for questioning The Police Force has invited Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II for questioning over the killings during the Sallah celebration in Kano. The letter dated April 4, 2025 and signed by CP Olajide Rufus Ibitoye, Commissioner of Police (Operations), said the invitation was under the directive of the Inspector General of Police. The monarch is to report to the Force Intelligence Department, opposite the Police headquarters, Area 11, Abuja, on Tuesday, April 8 by 10:00am. “I have the directives of the Inspector General of police, through the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID) to invite you for an investigative meeting with regards to an incident that occurred during the Sallah celebration within your domain. “Your availability is highly sought for a purposeful investigation,” the invitation letter emphasised. SALLAH CELEBRATION: Commissioner of Police Orders Comprehensive Security Measures and Deployment of Adequate personnels


The Bauchi State Police Command extends warm greetings to the Muslim community on the occasion of the 1446AH/2025 Eid-el-Fitr celebration, signifying the conclusion of the Ramadan fasting period.


Under the distinguished leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, psc (+), mni, the Command is dedicated to implementing robust security measures and ensuring a conducive environment for prayer across the State. The safety of lives and property remains the highest priority for the Police.


The Command has established extensive security protocols to achieve this objective, including deploying mufti-uniformed personnel for intelligence gathering. These officers will report to the Command’s central control room to preemptively address potential threats to peace and security before and during the festive period. 


CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, psc (+), mni has Directed all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to maintain heightened visibility patrols in areas identified as black spots or flashpoints within their respective Areas of Responsibility (AORs). It is essential to convey a message to individuals considering disruptions to the procession: it is advised to reconsider their actions. They are encouraged to either participate in the festivities, approach the Police for rehabilitation, or face appropriate legal consequences for any unlawful actions.


The Command urges citizens to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station for immediate response. Additionally, citizens may submit complaints via the Police Rescue Me App or contact emergency numbers 08151849417 and 09053872273.


We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for all citizens during the festive season.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
