A devastating incident occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of a young couple. The victims, a man and his lover, Peace, succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning from generator fumes.

According to eyewitnesses, the couple had placed their power generator in the passage close to their room on Friday evening and left it running throughout the night. The next day, concerned co-tenants, who had not seen the couple emerge from their room, forced the door open and discovered the lifeless bodies.

A local resident, Chima, reported that neighbors immediately alerted the authorities at the Central Police Station. The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the incident, with spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko stating that preliminary investigations suggest the couple's deaths were caused by inhalation of generator fumes.
