How Trump, Vance held back from hitting Zelensky is a miracle – Russia’s Zakharova

Russia’s foreign ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said on Friday that the way U.S. President Donald Trump and his Vice President, JD Vance, showed ā€œrestraintā€ by not hitting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was a miracle.

Trump cancelled a planned press conference with Zelensky after a contentious meeting at the White House.

During the meeting, Trump and Vance accused Zelensky of being insufficiently grateful for U.S. support in the war with Russia.

Trump also said Zelensky had ā€œdisrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office.ā€

He further insisted that Zelensky ā€œcan come back when he is ready for peace.ā€

Reacting to the development, Zakharova wrote on Telegram: ā€œI think Zelenskyy’s biggest lie of all his lies was his assertion in the White House that the Kyiv regime in 2022 was alone, without support. How Trump and Vance held back from hitting that scumbag is a miracle of restraint.ā€
