 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  WhatsApp group admin shot dead for allegedly removing member.


A man has been charged with murd£r after allegedly fatally shooting the administrator of a community WhatsApp group who removed him from the chat, police said Saturday, March 8.


Mushtaq Ahmed was shot dead on Thursday evening, March 6, in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province that borders Afghanistan, which has a history of bloody sectarian violence.


A Pakistani man named only as Ashfaq has been charged with his murd£r, according to police documents seen by AFP and a local police official.


Mushtaq allegedly removed Ashfaq from the WhatsApp group following an argument, according to a statement by Mushtaq’s brother seen by AFP.


He said that both parties had arranged to meet and reconcile but alleges that Ashfaq turned up with a gun and opened fire, k!lling his brother.


Ashfaq was angry “in reaction to removal from WhatsApp group,” according to his statement.
