26 PEOPLE KILLED AFTER TERRORISTS OPENED FIRE AT A POPULAR MEADOW IN INDIA.(PHOTO).

In a shocking terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, more than 26 people were killed and several others injured on Tuesday afternoon.

Most of the victims were tourists, including two foreigners and two locals. The terrorists opened fire at a popular meadow near the town, firing over 50 rounds at the crowd. This is the deadliest terror attack in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama bombing.

According to sources, the attack was planned by Pakistani-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and its shadow group, The Resistance Front (TRF), has claimed responsibility. Intelligence reports suggest that a reconnaissance (recce) of various tourist destinations, including hotels in Pahalgam, was carried out by terrorists from April 1 to 7. More than three terrorists are suspected to have executed the attack.

The shooting began around 2:30 PM when two to three terrorists reached Baisaran, a scenic spot in Pahalgam. They checked identity cards of tourists before opening fire. An Army officer who was visiting with his family acted quickly to help protect others. Security forces, including the Army, CRPF, and local police, responded immediately and have launched a large-scale search operation to catch the attackers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack and assured that those responsible will be punished. He said India’s fight against terrorism will only grow stronger. Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level meeting with top officials in Delhi and later flew to Srinagar to personally monitor the situation. Emergency control rooms have been set up in Anantnag and Srinagar to help the affected.
