Abia Ex-Governors Clash Over State's Condition

A public dispute has erupted between two former governors of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu, over the condition of the state during their respective tenures. The disagreement stems from recent remarks attributed to Ikpeazu, who claimed he inherited a "gloomy" Abia State when he assumed office.

Ikpeazu, in the same statement, described leaders who criticize their predecessors as "lazy." However, Orji, through his media aide Ifeanyi Umere, sharply rebuked Ikpeazu’s comments, accusing him of contradicting himself by condemning criticism while simultaneously disparaging his own predecessor.

Orji expressed dismay at Ikpeazu’s assertion that Abia was in a dismal state when he took over, urging him to "carry his cross" and accept responsibility for his own governance record. “Ikpeazu should take responsibility for his actions and inactions instead of looking for who to blame, as governance is not necessarily about making speeches,” Orji stated.
