 Germany and Austria to tap oil reserves after 400 million barrels requested  Germany and Austria announced they are releasing portions of their oil reserves in response to an International Energy Agency request for member nations to collectively release 400 million barrels to help ease rising energy prices linked to the Iran conflict. Japan also said it will begin releasing part of its reserves starting Monday. The move marks one of the largest coordinated releases of emergency oil stocks in history. The previous record came in 2022, when IEA members released 182.7 million barrels following the energy disruptions caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Member countries currently hold over 1.2 billion barrels of public emergency oil stocks, along with an additional 600 million barrels of industry stocks maintained under government requirements.  Abia State Governor Orders Manhunt for Killers of Chinese Miners and Police Officer


In a swift response to a deadly ambush, Governor Alex Otti has directed security agents to track down and apprehend the unidentified gunmen responsible for the murder of two Chinese miners and a police officer at a mining site in Uturu, Abia State. The governor's directive comes in the wake of the brutal attack, which was confirmed by the Abia State Police Command on Saturday.


In a statement released on Sunday by Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, Otti expressed his outrage at the unprovoked assault on innocent individuals. He pledged the state government's unwavering support to security agencies in their efforts to ensure that the perpetrators face justice.


Governor Otti emphasized that his administration has prioritized creating a conducive environment for businesses and economic activities while also safeguarding lives and property through enhanced support for security agencies. He condemned the attack as bearing the hallmarks of terrorism and called on all people of goodwill to denounce the incident.


To prevent future incursions by criminals from neighboring states, Otti vowed to strengthen security cooperation with Abia’s bordering states, aiming to establish a robust security framework. The governor extended his condolences to the Nigerian Police Force, the Chinese Embassy, and the families of the victims of the Uturu attack, assuring them of his commitment to justice.
