 POLICE REFORMS: IGP DISU RESTRUCTURES MONITORING UNIT, APPOINTS DCP ALIYU ABUBAKAR AS HEAD OF THE UNIT The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has approved the comprehensive restructuring of the Police Monitoring Unit as part of ongoing institutional reforms aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness, strengthening internal oversight, and reinforcing discipline across the Nigeria Police Force. The restructuring is necessitated by the need to refocus the Unit on its core mandate, address identified operational inefficiencies, and reposition it as a credible and effective internal accountability mechanism within the Force. As part of the reorganisation, the Unit has been streamlined and strengthened to enhance proactive monitoring, intelligence-driven inspections, and real-time oversight of police personnel and operations across Commands, Formations, and Departments.  AFWC ENGAGES IN CONTINENTAL SECURITY DIALOGUE IN MOROCCO


The Air Force War College (AFWC), alongside the Defence and other Services' War Colleges, proudly represented Nigeria at the 2nd Forum of African War Colleges Commandants’ Seminar held in Rabat, Morocco, from 21–26 April 2025. With participants from 14 African nations, the seminar focused on advancing strategic military education and forging united responses to Africa’s evolving security landscape.


Highlighting the importance of such engagements, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, stressed the need for “leveraging cutting-edge technology, strategic partnerships, and lessons learnt from regional experiences” to strengthen military effectiveness.


AFWC Commandant, Air Vice Marshal Babatunde Phillips, reaffirmed the College’s role in   developing skilled personnel to employ airpower strategies and innovations for the effective conduct of air operations to enhance security in Nigeria and the continent at large: “AFWC’s participation highlights Nigeria’s commitment in fostering regional cooperation and contributing to a secure and stable continent", he  added.


Nigeria’s presence underlines the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to peace, leadership development, and a resilient continental defence network.
