No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat. However, once Deiter was pulled to safety, he repaid a stranger's kindness with treachery.  Deiter shoved the captain from his own boat and fled the scene in the stolen boat, leaving the man who had just risked his own vessel and life...

AN 80-YEAR-OLD SOUTH CAROLINA MAN BECAME UPSET WITH HIS NEIGHBORS SO HE ENTERED THEIR HOME WITH AN ASSAULT RIFLE AND OPENED FIRE TAKING THE LIFE OF AN 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL. AFTER BEING SUBDUED... HE CONFESSED TO TAKING HIS WIFE'S LIFE ALSO.. (PHOTO).

An 80-year-old South Carolina man became upset with his neighbors so he entered their home with an assault rifle and opened fire taking the life of an 11-year-old girl. After being subdued... he confessed to taking his wife's life also.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Department were called to the report of a man opening fire in a home at 10:30 pm on Wednesday, April 16th. When deputies arrived, they encountered a chaotic and heartbreaking scene.

Members of the household were in the process of restraining 80-year-old Rueben Leonard after having disarmed him. According to reports, Leonard had entered the home where around 10 people were present and opened fire with an assault rifle.

An 11-year-old girl had been struck and was found suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. She has been identified as Ashly McFarland. She is the only reported injury due to Leonard's actions.

According to official reports, this tragic incident was the culmination of an ongoing neighbor dispute. Leonard had become upset with the residents of the home over them using their backyard for target practice.

Deputies had responded to the residence multiple times as a result of the Leonard's complaints. Mr. Leonard had just been charged with breach of peace on Monday April 14th in connection to the ongoing neighbor war.

Apparently this is what might have sent Rueban Leonard spiraling out of control and ultimately ending in the death of an innocent 11-year-old girl.

However the shocking night hadn't reached its conclusion yet. As responding deputies took Leonard into custody, he confessed to taking his wife's life ealier in the day. When deputies went to Leonard's home to verify his story, they discovered his 76-year-old wife deceased in the garage.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Department said there is no clear motive beyond the dispute over target practice and also stated Rueben Leonard does not suffer from dementia or have any mental health issues.

Rueben Leonard was taken to the hospital for injuries he sustained while being restrained by the victims.  Once he is released from the hospital he will be booked into Sumter County Jail.

Rueben Leonard is being charged with two counts of murder.

Our thoughts are with everyone involved.
