 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  ANAMBRA JOINT SECURITY TEAM INTENSIFIES SECURITY PATROL IN NNEWI AND IHIALA AS CP ORUTUGU HAILS ONITSHA AND AWKA RESIDENTS ON IMPROVED ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES IN THE STATE ON MONDAYS


The Anambra State Joint Security team comprising the Police, the Army from the 302 Artillery Regiment (GS), the Navy from the Naval Command, Department of State Security, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and Anambra State Vigilante, today 7th April, 2025 intensified security patrols in the State especially in Nnewi and Ihiala environs. The exercise is aimed at checkmating any untoward situations in the area. The Security patrol had in its convoy security and operational armoured vehicles purposefully driven to encourage business owners and residents to come out and engage in their legitimate activities. 


Given the above, the Commissioner of Police *CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD* hails Awka and Onitsha residents and relevant stakeholders especially bus driver’s associations and some market leaders for their resilience to condemn any act that threatens our national peace and their resolve to work together to improve economic activities in the area especially on Mondays. 


The Police-led Joint Security Force is committed to maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and promoting economic growth in the State.
