 Texas man arrested with 75 pounds of marijuana in luggage while flying to London, police say A Texas man was arrested at Miami International Airport after authorities found 75 pounds of marijuana in his luggage before he could board a flight to London. Harrison O’Neill Tiernan, 23, from Austin, was charged with cannabis trafficking. He was traveling to Heathrow Airport and had checked two suitcases for his British Airways flight. Inspectors discovered 65 vacuum-sealed packages containing a green, leafy substance later confirmed to be marijuana. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Tiernan while he attempted to board the flight, and he acknowledged that the bags were his. Authorities noted the inspections were part of broader efforts at the airport due to high outbound narcotics activity. In total, Tiernan was carrying 34.01 kilograms, or 74.98 pounds, of marijuana. BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND EXTENDS GREETINGS TO THE CHRISTIAN FAITHFUL AND ANNOUNCES SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE UPCOMING EASTER CELEBRATION


In anticipation of the forthcoming Easter celebrations scheduled for the 18th and 21st of April 2025, the Bauchi State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, psc(+),mni wishes to assure the residents of Bauchi State that the command is fully prepared to fulfil its statutory obligation to protect the lives and properties of citizens before, during, and after the celebrations.


The command is committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment throughout this period, working with other sister security agencies and pertinent stakeholders.


To this end, the Commissioner of Police has mandated the deployment of sufficient personnel, including conventional police units and tactical teams, along with necessary logistical support, to guarantee robust security at all strategic locations across the state.


The Commissioner of Police has instructed officers assigned to this significant task to conduct themselves civilly while remaining resolute in performing their duties.


The Commissioner of Police wishes to extend warm Easter greetings to the general public and encourages the state's citizens to utilise this period for introspection and to offer prayers for the peace, progress, and unity of the state and the nation.


In expressing solidarity with the Christian community as it observes the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Commissioner of Police also urges religious leaders, worshippers, and all residents to cooperate with the Nigeria Police Force and sister security agencies. Comprehensive security measures have been established to ensure a seamless celebration.


Furthermore, the Commissioner has instructed all Area Commanders, Heads of Departments, and Divisional Police Officers to enhance security through visible and covert deployments to protect lives and property, provide security coverage to worship and recreational centres, and conduct operations in identified high-risk areas. Additionally, all police divisions are tasked with implementing effective strategies for neighbourhood policing.


Consequently, the command will maintain a high-profile policing presence before, during, and after the celebrations. Police patrol vehicles have been strategically positioned along highways, and undercover operatives and foot patrol units have been mobilised to ensure comprehensive regional coverage.


In the event of any emergencies before, during, or after the celebrations, members of the public are encouraged to visit the nearest police stations or to utilise the Police Rescue Me application.
