  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous.  ECOWAS Calls for Dialogue Amid Escalating Tensions Between Algeria and Mali


The West African organization called on Mali and Algeria to resort to dialogue and use regional and continental mechanisms to resolve disputes, Sputnik reported.


Diplomatic tensions between Mali and Algeria escalated after Algerian armed forces shot down a Malian drone near the border town of Tin Zaouatine in late March.


Algeria stated that the drone violated its sovereignty. Bamako, for its part, denieed any incursion into its neighbor's airspace.


The incident prompted a series of political reactions, including the recall of the ambassadors of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger from Algiers, as well as the closure of airspace between Algeria and Mali.


Algeria is not a member of ECOWAS, and Mali withdrew from it at the end of January.
