 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  ECOWAS Calls for Dialogue Amid Escalating Tensions Between Algeria and Mali


The West African organization called on Mali and Algeria to resort to dialogue and use regional and continental mechanisms to resolve disputes, Sputnik reported.


Diplomatic tensions between Mali and Algeria escalated after Algerian armed forces shot down a Malian drone near the border town of Tin Zaouatine in late March.


Algeria stated that the drone violated its sovereignty. Bamako, for its part, denieed any incursion into its neighbor's airspace.


The incident prompted a series of political reactions, including the recall of the ambassadors of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger from Algiers, as well as the closure of airspace between Algeria and Mali.


Algeria is not a member of ECOWAS, and Mali withdrew from it at the end of January.
