 A popular content creator has died from surgery complication     Esther Thomas, popularly known as Sunshine, was a Nigerian content creator, skit maker, and brand influencer. She died on Friday, 9 January 2026, after complications from fibroid surgery. She had been complaining of serious stomach pain from late December 2025.     Sunshine was first admitted at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where her friends said she was only given pain relief drugs because doctors were on strike. Her condition did not improve, so she was moved to another hospital on 2 January 2026, where tests showed she had a large fibroid and surgery was carried out. She later developed complications and died. After her death, friends blamed Orchid General Hospital online, saying she was neglected and did not receive proper treatment early enough.  Indonesia Detains Three Judges Over Palm Oil Bribery Scandal


Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office has detained three judges—Agam Syarif Baharuddin, Ali Muhtarom, and Djuyamto—over allegations of accepting bribes to acquit firms in a high-profile illegal palm oil export case.


The judges allegedly received over 22.5 billion rupiah ($1.5 million) to favor Wilmar Group, Permata Hijau Group, and Musim Mas Group, despite their involvement in violating a 2022 export ban.


The arrests raise the number of suspects in the case to seven, including court officials and defense attorneys. The AGO said the scandal caused state losses of $10.9 million during Indonesia’s cooking oil crisis.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
