Kaduna Man Narrates How He Ended Relationship Over Girlfriend’s Fake Wealthy Background, Lifestyle

A young man identified as Aliyu Jalal has taken to social media to share the experience that led to his decision to end a relationship with a lady he had been dating, citing deceit and a mismatch between her lifestyle and her true background.

According to Jalal, he met the lady while she was studying at Kaduna State University (KASU), and was immediately impressed by her luxurious lifestyle, including her use of an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Assuming she came from a wealthy family, Jalal said he never questioned her spending habits or polished appearance.

“I thought her parents were rich,” he wrote. “Every time I suggested visiting her house, she insisted we meet at a restaurant instead. When I asked about her background, she vaguely mentioned her family lived in GRA Malali and that her father worked at the Government House.”

The situation took a dramatic turn when the lady became unreachable for four days due to illness. Concerned, Jalal went to her university to find her, where a friend offered to take him to her residence. To his shock, they ended up in a rundown part of Rigasa rather than the upscale GRA Malali she had claimed.

Describing the scene, Jalal said the area was a congested ghetto with poor sanitation. The family lived in a crowded compound, and basic facilities such as toilets and bathrooms were shared by numerous occupants.

“I wasn’t bothered by the poverty,” he said. “It was the lies, the iPhone that could’ve painted their room, the fancy clothes while the curtains were torn, and that fake posh Hausa accent.”

He stated that when he arrived and asked how she was faring, the girl, who was still ill, avoided eye contact out of shame.

Her mother addressed him instead, saying, “Ai wannan karan ma da sauki domin tasha arrarabi sosai” implying the illness was not as serious as past episodes.

Jalal said he left the house without giving her the three packs of Chivita juice he had brought because he was so disappointed.

“I went home and drank them all myself,” he concluded.

He ended his story with a piece of advice: “Shamsiyya, a chanza hali” — calling on his former partner to change her ways.
