 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room.  LAGFERRY BOAT FIRE


The Lagos State Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) earlier today had a fire on one of its boats, Igbega Eko, at the Ipakodo Terminal in Ikorodu.


Preliminary reports indicate that the fire started at about 6.45 a.m. There were 19 passengers on board. The inferno started after passengers had boarded the boat to depart the terminal. 


All passengers were rescued alive. Nine of them who, unfortunately, sustained burn injuries are receiving medical attention at the Ikorodu General Hospital. They will be treated free of charge.


Emergency protocols were promptly activated at the scene.


LAGFERRY sincerely appreciates all responders, Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), private boat operators, and other rescuers who worked tirelessly to contain the situation. The Agency also commended the passengers for their cooperation during the evacuation.


A full-scale investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the fire and prevent future occurrence. 


In the meantime, additional safety measures and inspections will be reinforced across all our fleet to underscore our commitment to safety on our waterways.
