 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results.  Muslim leaders beg President Tinubu to review emergency rule in Rivers


Muslim leaders in Rivers State have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to review the emergency rule in Rivers State and reinstate suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s full authority.


The Muslim leaders emphasized that Governor Fubara has continued to lead the state effectively despite the political crisis.


They made the call during a visit to Governor Fubara at his private residence in Port Harcourt on Monday, as part of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.


The delegation include, Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic groups, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.


Speaking on behalf of the Muslim Ummah, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor assured Governor Fubara of their unwavering support.


He encouraged the governor to remain resolute, as believers are tested through wealth, power and authority just like it is contained in Islamic teachings.
