 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results.  NACA Raises Concern Over High HIV Rate in Taraba, Launches Mother-Child Prevention Committee


The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has raised alarm over Taraba State’s 2.9% HIV prevalence rate, urging urgent, united efforts to curb the spread and meet the 2030 target of ending AIDS.

NACA Director General, Dr. Temitope Ilori, made the call on Tuesday in Jalingo during the inauguration of the Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) and Paediatric HIV Acceleration Committee (PPAC).


Ilori called for stronger collaboration among government, health workers, development partners, and communities, stressing that antiretroviral drugs remain freely available despite recent concerns.


Taraba’s AIDS Control Agency Director General, Dr. Bako Ali Istifanus, hailed the PPAC launch as a major step in eliminating mother-to-child HIV transmission and pledged full state support to the initiative.
