 Aguiyi Orders Investigation into Trans Nkisi Mining Site Over Environmental Compliance By Amaka Isikala The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has ordered an investigation into the environmental compliance status of a mining site at Trans Nkisi, Onitsha, following concerns over extensive land degradation and its possible contribution to the growing gully erosion threatening the community. The directive followed an inspection visit to the site on August 1, during which the commissioner was accompanied by leaders of the Trans Nkisi community. The visit formed part of the ministry's ongoing assessment of environmentally sensitive locations across the state in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Fifth Pillar of Development, Environment and Urban Regeneration.  North-Central APC Names Akume as Leader, Targets 6 Million Votes for Tinubu in 2027


The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has officially adopted Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), as the party’s leader in the zone.


The decision was made during a stakeholders' meeting in Abuja on Thursday, with Forum Chairman Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga emphasizing Akume’s seniority as the highest-ranking APC member in the region.


The Forum commended Akume for fostering unity within the party and reaffirmed its commitment to securing six million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.


It also urged Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia to recognize Akume’s leadership and work towards resolving internal party disputes for a stronger APC presence in the region.
