 EFCC Arraigns Austrian For Undeclared $800,585, €651,505 At Lagos Airport The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, Okotie Eboh, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, January 9, 2026, arraigned one  Kavlak Onal, an Austrian national arrested by the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, for allegedly failing to declare the sums of $800,575 and €651,505 in his possession. He was arraigned before Justice Yelim Bogoro of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi , Lagos.  Onal who was scheduled to travel on Emirates Airline to Dubai, was on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 intercepted  during a routine check at the AML/ CFT Currency Declaration Desk at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

 Over 100 Killed as Heavy Rains Batter India and Nepal


More than 100 people have died since Wednesday following torrential rains across parts of India and Nepal, officials confirmed.


In India’s Bihar State alone, 82 fatalities were reported due to rain-related incidents, while 18 others died in Uttar Pradesh from storms and lightning. In neighbouring Nepal, at least eight deaths were recorded.


The Indian Meteorological Department warned of continued thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across central and eastern regions through Monday, amid rising concerns over extreme weather events.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
