 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room.  POLICE-LED SECURITY FORCE DISLODGE A CRIMINAL CAMP IN OGBUNKA: NOTES THAT THE JOINT SECURITY FORCE SHALL CONTINUE TO DENY UNREPENTANT CRIMINALS THE SPACE TO COMMIT HAVOC IN THE STATE



The Police-led Joint Security Team comprising the Army, from the 302 Artillery Regiment (GS), Navy from the Naval Command, Department of State Security, Anambra State Vigilante, acting on information received over time dislodged a criminal Camp at Ogbunka. 


The Joint Security Team in a six (6) hours gun battle with the armed criminals, due to its superior firepower diffused some explosives used as shields on the camp by the hoodlums. The team also recovered a lot of relief materials like pots, foodstuffs and parts of dismembered suspected stolen vehicles even as some of the criminals escaped with various degrees of bullet injuries inflicted on them. The Operatives have taken over the area to sustain security dominance aimed at addressing any untoward situation that may arise and to  possibly arrest the fleeing suspects.


Given the above, the Anambra State Police Command assures on behalf of other security agencies that the confidence reposed on her by Ndi Anambra and residents alike for the protection of lives and properties is not taken for granted.
