 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  Reps Postpone Meeting with Rivers State Sole Administrator


The House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight has postponed its scheduled interactive session with the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), originally set for Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 4:00 PM.


The shift follows a formal request from Vice Admiral Ibas to defer the meeting to a later date.


The committee had earlier summoned the administrator for a detailed discussion on recent developments in Rivers State.


According to a statement from House Spokesperson Hon. Akin Rotimi, the committee acknowledged the request and is working to fix a new date for the session.


“The committee remains committed to transparent and effective oversight and will announce the new date once it is finalized,” the statement read.
