 Aguiyi Orders Investigation into Trans Nkisi Mining Site Over Environmental Compliance By Amaka Isikala The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has ordered an investigation into the environmental compliance status of a mining site at Trans Nkisi, Onitsha, following concerns over extensive land degradation and its possible contribution to the growing gully erosion threatening the community. The directive followed an inspection visit to the site on August 1, during which the commissioner was accompanied by leaders of the Trans Nkisi community. The visit formed part of the ministry's ongoing assessment of environmentally sensitive locations across the state in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Fifth Pillar of Development, Environment and Urban Regeneration.  Site Engineer Killed in Delta by Employees After Discovering Large Sum of Money in His Account


A gruesome murder has shaken the community in Delta State, Nigeria, where a site engineer, Chigozie Udalor, was killed by his employees after they discovered he had a substantial amount of money in his bank account.¹


According to the police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the incident occurred on December 10, 2024, when Udalor's cousin, Hyacinth Nnalue, reported him missing. Nnalue stated that Udalor was the site manager at his fish pond in Bod camp Akwukwu Igbo community.


The police launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of two suspects, David Tacho and Daniel Orshio, on March 31, 2025. Tacho was caught attempting to withdraw money from Udalor's account using his phone.


Preliminary investigations revealed that all four suspects, including two still at large, Pius Daniel and Victor Tacho, were employed by Udalor. They conspired to kill him after discovering he had a large sum of money in his Moniepoint account.


The suspects used a hammer to hit Udalor on the head, tied him up, and buried him in a shallow grave at the site. The body has been exhumed and is awaiting autopsy, while efforts to arrest the remaining suspects are ongoing.


The police are urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of Pius Daniel and Victor Tacho to come forward and assist in the investigation.
