Olivia Brown and Hayley Ditzler were arrested in connection with an April 18th attack on a victim they lured to their home under the guise of friendship ending these teens recent violent rampage.
The two girls are being charged with felony mob action in connection with the April 18th incident. On that date, Ditzler and Brown contacted Evelyn Berentz and asked her to come to a nearby home so they could apologize. This call came after a disturbing encounter the night before.
Betentz says on that evening she was hanging out with friends at a rural location outside of Granite City. She said at some point she noticed a group of individuals sneaking up on her vehicle in ski masks. When she saw Brown and Ditzler in the group she knew for sure it was trouble and sped away.
Berentz was, at one time, a friend of the two girls so when she received a call from them the next day she assumed it was legitimate and went to the home in Caseyville to meet with Ditzler and Brown. However reconciliation was the last thing Olivia and Hayley wanted.
Berentz says when she showed up the two teens drug her into the woods and began to violently attack her while filming the entire ordeal on a cell phone they had strategically placed to capture the beating. Berentz says Ditzler covered her mouth from behind and threatened her with death if she screamed out.
Evelyn said she was then repeatedly punched and kicked by the two girls and claims she believes they would have taken her life had she not screamed and fought back. She has since filed an order of protection against Brown and Ditzler but is still worried they may track her down and do worse to her when they are released from jail.
According to many, this wasn't an isolated incident and this just was the latest attack from these two teens. There are several videos circulating on the internet that seem to confirm this assertion. Police say they are investigating the other alleged attacks and additional charges may follow.
Reports indicate that both girls were released from jail on Thursday, April 24th... despite the Madison County Sheriff AND prosecutor requesting they be held in jail until at least theor first appearance in court.
Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. This is a very stressful time for them.
