McDonald’s launches World Cup meal and collectible cups ahead of 2026 FIFA tournament kickoff McDonald’s is launching limited-time World Cup meals and collectibles ahead of the FIFA tournament kickoff on June 11, as excitement builds for the expanded 48-team competition co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada. The fast-food chain, returning as an official tournament sponsor, will roll out its World Cup-themed menu nationwide starting June 4. Customers can choose between a Big Mac or a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets meal, both served with a special gold-packaged Big Mac Sauce. As part of the promotion, McDonald’s is also releasing collectible cups featuring nine global soccer stars and cultural icons. The lineup includes Christian Pulisic, David Beckham, Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry, Son Heung-Min, Lamine Yamal, Alphonso Davies, Santiago Gimenez, and the brand’s mascot Grimace.  22 members of Kano sports delegation to Ogun feared dead in fatal accident


Some members of the Kano state delegation to Ogun for the National Sports Festival have been confirmed dead after a fatal accident on their way home.


Reports confirmed that 35 passengers were in the vehicle that plunged into a bridge at Kura local government after their games in Ogun state.


A survivor from the accident, Ado Salisu Gama who spoke to DAILY POST said some of his colleagues were confirmed dead on the spot, while others were rushed to Kura General Hospital.


Speaking from the hospital on Saturday morning, he said: “22 people have been confirmed dead at Dakatsalle bridge, just before Kura. The driver too is dead. As I speak with you, one other member just died.”


Ado Salisu who was clearly in shock said others still at the hospital are receiving care.


Among the dead are athletes, journalists, medical personnel and administrators.


Details are still emerging as some members of the team that won 29 medals are said to have gone.
