The Abia State Government has recognized two former National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members for their impactful contributions to local communities during their service year. His initiatives were credited with creating jobs, reducing poverty, and steering young people away from crime. Dr. Ekene was celebrated for organizing screenings for HIV, Syphilis, Tuberculosis, and Hepatitis B and C, as well as supporting safe deliveries for pregnant women in Uzuakoli.
Presenting certificates of recognition and cash gifts on behalf of Governor Otti, the Abia State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Gladys Adama, praised the duo for sacrificing their time and resources to uplift their host communities. She Baby steps were taken to ensure the safety of all participants. Mrs. Adama urged current NYSC members in Abia to emulate their example and contribute meaningfully to the transformation of their assigned communities.
In his response, Chimaobim called on Nigerian youths to combat poverty and economic challenges by acquiring skills and embracing opportunities to create wealth. He emphasized that job creation is a collective responsibility, not solely the government’s burden, and urged young people to shun crime in favor of life-changing opportunities.
