 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Awka South Mayor Inaugurates Immunization Task Force, Flags Off First Round of NIDDs

 In a significant move to enhance routine immunization efforts, the Mayor of Awka South Local Government Area, Prince Chindu Okafor has inaugurated an Immunization Task Force aimed at strengthening campaign exercises at the grassroots level.


Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the Awka South Headquarters podium, Prince Okafor urged the newly appointed task force to ensure effective leadership coordination in advancing routine immunization campaigns. He emphasized the importance of quality immunization efforts in eradicating polio and other vaccine-preventable diseases across communities in Awka South.


"The prudent management of funds for the task ahead will be crucial to the success of this initiative. I urge the team to recruit competent personnel who will help drive mobilization efforts for immunization campaigns in the target areas," the Mayor stated.


The Director of Awka South Healthcare Services, Dr. Ngozi Okeke expressed gratitude to Mayor Okafor and the Anambra State Ministry of Health for their unwavering support in achieving this milestone. She highlighted the significance of the National Immunization Drug Days (NIDDs) flag-off, stressing its role in promoting child healthcare.


The immunization campaign, scheduled to run for four days, will cover households, schools, and churches, targeting children between 0–59 months for oral polio vaccination. The exercise will conclude on May 6, with the task force overseeing mobilization, implementation, and monitoring activities at the grassroots level.


The newly constituted task force included: Deputy Mayor as the Task Force Head, Supervisor for Health, Awka South, Supervisor for Education and representatives from the National Orientation Agency (NOA).
