 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump.  DSS Debunks Recruitment Rumors, Urges Public to Disregard False Reports


The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed circulating reports claiming it is currently recruiting, labeling them as false and misleading. The agency specifically addressed rumors suggesting it was accepting applications for roles such as electricians, plumbers, mechanics, and carpenters, purportedly targeting holders of primary and secondary school certificates.


In a statement posted on its official X account on Wednesday, the DSS urged Nigerians to ignore the claims. “The public is advised to disregard any misleading or false information about the service’s recruitment process. Disregard such claims, please,” the post read.

The agency emphasized that no recruitment exercise is underway and cautioned the public against falling for fraudulent reports.
