 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.  El-Rufai’s Son, Bello Backs President Tinubu’s Re-election Bid, Distances Himself From Father’s SDP Move


Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North and son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has thrown his support behind President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, distancing himself from his father’s recent defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).


Bello made his stance clear during the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit held in Abuja, where President Tinubu was formally endorsed as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 general election.


This development follows Nasir El-Rufai’s exit from the APC in March 2025, citing a divergence in values. The former governor joined the SDP with a pledge to unify the opposition in a bid to unseat the ruling party in the next election.


Bello’s endorsement of Tinubu has stirred political discourse. Commenting on the matter, political commentator Reno Omokri remarked, “If El-Rufai can’t convince his son to leave Tinubu, how will he convince Nigerians?”
