 The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday. Gospel singer Big Bolaji buried in Ibadan


Popular Nigerian gospel artiste, Bolaji Olanrewaju, popularly known as Big Bolaji, has been laid to rest in Ibadan, Oyo State, following his death on April 19 after a brief illness.

He was 50 years old.

The final rites began on Wednesday with a funeral service and lying-in-state held at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Ibadan.

The solemn event drew family members, close friends, and a host of fellow gospel singers who came to pay their last respects.

Among those in attendance were notable figures in the gospel music community, including Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, Yetunde Are, and popular comedian, Woli Agba.

Emotional moments captured on social media showed pallbearers carrying Bolaji’s flower-decked casket into the venue, as mourners gathered in silence.

A moving tribute video chronicling his musical journey and spiritual impact was played during the service, drawing tears and applause from attendees.

Following the service, the burial procession proceeded to All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, Ibadan, where Big Bolaji was laid to rest.

His wife, siblings, and loved ones stood in quiet reflection as the singer was committed to the earth.
