 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  INEC Debunks Rumours of Voter Registration Resumption Date


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports claiming that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, including services such as the transfer and replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), will resume on May 27, 2025. The commission described the circulating message as false and urged the public to disregard it.


In a statement issued on Sunday via X by Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, the commission clarified that no official date has been set for the resumption of these activities. INEC emphasized that any authentic announcement regarding the CVR would be communicated through its verified social media platforms and other official channels.


“The Independent National Electoral Commission has not announced any date for the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration, Transfer, and Replacement of lost Permanent Voters’ Cards,” the statement read. “The public is urged to ignore the fake, anonymous claim that these services will resume on May 27, 2025.”


INEC reassured Nigerians that it would publicly disclose the resumption date and full details at the appropriate time, in line with its standard practice. The commission encouraged citizens to rely on its official communications for accurate information.
