Kaduna Government Denies Alleged Plot To Arrest Critic, Nura Usman Labels Rumours “Mischief”

The Kaduna State Government has firmly denied claims circulating on social media that it is plotting to arrest one Nura Usman over his critical views of Governor Uba Sani.

In a statement released on Wednesday by Abdullah Yunus Abdullah, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor, the government described the allegations as false and the product of "mischief makers" intent on sowing discord.

Abdullah, who said he took steps to verify the allegations with top government officials and security agencies, maintained there was no plan to arrest Usman. He characterized the rumours as "utterly ridiculous" and aimed at creating tension in the state.

“Governor Uba Sani is a renowned human rights and pro-democracy activist. He respects free speech and constructive criticism. The idea that the government would arrest someone over a social media post is not only false but delusional,” the statement read in part.

The aide urged the public to desist from spreading unverified information and emphasized the governor’s commitment to democratic principles and fundamental freedoms.

He highlighted the administration’s focus on stabilizing the state, improving infrastructure, and boosting economic development.

He called on citizens to reject divisive narratives and work together towards building a peaceful and prosperous Kaduna.
