 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event.  LASG APPOINTS OGUNMUYIWA AS PROVOST OF LAGOS STATE COLLEGE OF NURSING


‎The Lagos State Government has officially appointed Dr. (Mrs.) Ayodeji Ogunmuyiwa as the Provost of the Lagos State College of Nursing (LASCON), Midwifery and Public Health Nursing, as communicated through a letter duly signed by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro.


‎Presenting the letter of appointment on behalf of the State Government at Alausa on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule stated that the appointment comes at a crucial time when the government is working assiduously to reposition its tertiary health institutions and healthcare delivery system for optimal service efficiency and effectiveness.


He emphasised the importance of the College in meeting the healthcare needs of Lagos State’s growing population by producing qualified health professionals of international standards. 

‎Commissioner Sule noted that Dr. Ogunmuyiwa’s appointment was based purely on merit, highlighting her extensive administrative experience, professional background, and outstanding past achievements. He expressed confidence that under her leadership, the College would fully harness its human capital and state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure to become one of the leading nursing institutions in the West African sub-region, recognised for excellence, professionalism, and discipline.


While congratulating the new Provost, the Commissioner assured her of the Ministry’s full support and cooperation to ensure a successful tenure that justifies the confidence reposed in her by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.


In her remarks, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa expressed profound gratitude to the Lagos State Government for the opportunity to serve. She reaffirmed her commitment to upholding the institution’s academic and professional standards. She pledged to work diligently to ensure that graduates of the College are globally competitive, to maintain a smooth academic calendar, and to raise the institution’s profile both nationally and internationally.‎


Dr. Ogunmuyiwa is a Registered Nurse and Registered Nurse Educator, accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, and a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She holds a Ph.D. in Nursing Science from Babcock University. She also earned two Master’s degrees with distinction - one in Nursing Science from the University of Botswana and another in Measurement and Evaluation in Education from the University of Lagos.  She obtained her Bachelor of Nursing Science degree with First Class Honours from the University of Botswana and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Lagos.


A seasoned clinician, educator, and researcher, she is also a graduate of Science and Laboratory Technology from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and a multiple award-winning professional widely known for her significant contributions to nursing education and practice. She has mentored and supervised nursing interns, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students from various institutions both within and outside Nigeria.


She succeeds Mrs. Anuoluwapo Priesly, who served as the Acting Provost of the College.
