 Aguiyi Orders Investigation into Trans Nkisi Mining Site Over Environmental Compliance By Amaka Isikala The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has ordered an investigation into the environmental compliance status of a mining site at Trans Nkisi, Onitsha, following concerns over extensive land degradation and its possible contribution to the growing gully erosion threatening the community. The directive followed an inspection visit to the site on August 1, during which the commissioner was accompanied by leaders of the Trans Nkisi community. The visit formed part of the ministry's ongoing assessment of environmentally sensitive locations across the state in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Fifth Pillar of Development, Environment and Urban Regeneration.  Late Shebah Rilakwo Not Our Student, NSUK Clarifies


The Nasarawa State University, Keffi, NSUK has reacted to reports circulating in some online media outlets regarding the death of its student, Shebah Rilakwo Jatau.


In a statement issued by its acting Information and Protocol Officer, Jaafar Abdullahi Abubakar, the state-owned University, however, said the deceased was not a student but the son of a staff member, Professor Benson Shedrack Jatau.


Abubakar, who described the reports as misinformation, urged members of the public to disregard them in their entirety.


The deceased, who has since been buried according to reports, took h¡s own l¡f£ on April 28, 2025, at the university's senior staff quarters.
