Kaitlyn Rose Laura, 31, faces charges of injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Officials said she deliberately misled medical staff about her 3-year-old son’s health to obtain a gastrostomy tube and later a gastrojejunostomy tube, despite no documented medical need. Investigators allege that hospital staff observed the boy eating normally while Laura claimed he refused all food.  OPC member arrested for allegedly killing teenager in Lagos


The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected member of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in the Itapo area of Epe Local Government.

Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed the development on Thursday, stating that the suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, had been apprehended and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further investigation.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, around 3 a.m., when the OPC member allegedly opened fire on the teenager, killing him instantly before fleeing the scene.

The killing sparked outrage within the Epe community. Reports indicated that aggrieved residents and youths took to the streets in protest, marching with the victim’s body from Itapo through several parts of the town to demand justice.

The demonstration, which created heightened tension in the area, prompted the swift intervention of security forces. Officers reportedly used teargas and fired warning shots to disperse the crowd and restore order. The victim’s remains were later retrieved and taken to a hospital for necessary procedures.

Following the launch of a manhunt earlier in the week, police authorities have now confirmed that the suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity.
