NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  OPC member arrested for allegedly killing teenager in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected member of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in the Itapo area of Epe Local Government.

Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed the development on Thursday, stating that the suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, had been apprehended and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further investigation.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, around 3 a.m., when the OPC member allegedly opened fire on the teenager, killing him instantly before fleeing the scene.

The killing sparked outrage within the Epe community. Reports indicated that aggrieved residents and youths took to the streets in protest, marching with the victim’s body from Itapo through several parts of the town to demand justice.

The demonstration, which created heightened tension in the area, prompted the swift intervention of security forces. Officers reportedly used teargas and fired warning shots to disperse the crowd and restore order. The victim’s remains were later retrieved and taken to a hospital for necessary procedures.

Following the launch of a manhunt earlier in the week, police authorities have now confirmed that the suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
