 HERDSMEN KILL DRIVER ON HUMANITARIAN MISSION IN TARABA STATE  10th January, 2026      A commercial driver, Mr. Amishe Omeny, has been killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen while on a humanitarian visit to a displaced community in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State. The deceased, from Tse Amise after Tseem, was reportedly attacked on Friday within Chanchanji Ward as he travelled to Adokia, a displaced settlement located after Tseem Sabe. He was said to have gone to the area to assist villagers with the transportation of foodstuffs. Sources in the community told Benue Info-pedia, that Omeny volunteered his services as a driver to support residents affected by ongoing insecurity, when he was ambushed and killed by the assailants. The killing has sparked grief and outrage among residents, who described the incident as tragic and senseless.  Osun State Assembly Unanimously Endorses Governor Adeleke for Second Term


The Osun State House of Assembly has unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ademola Adeleke, endorsing him for a second term ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election. The decision was made during a plenary session on Tuesday, attended by all 26 members of the Assembly, comprising 25 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members and one All Progressives Congress (APC) member.


The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by Adewumi Adeyemi, representing Obokun State Constituency, and seconded by Taofiq Olayiwola from Ede South State Constituency. Presiding over the session, Speaker Adewale Egbedun lauded Governor Adeleke’s achievements, coinciding with the governor’s 65th birthday celebration. Egbedun highlighted Adeleke’s dedication to Osun State’s development, emphasizing his impactful governance and commitment to his five-point agenda.


“Lawmakers, as representatives of the people, take pride in the governor’s leadership,” Egbedun stated, urging Adeleke to continue pursuing greater accomplishments.


During the session, Simeon Popoola, representing Boripe-Boluwaduro State Constituency, paid tribute to the governor, praising his integrity and authenticity. “Politics aside, Mr. Governor is a plain-minded personality, loving and genuine. These attributes have greatly assisted him in his performance,” Popoola remarked.


Following deliberations, Speaker Egbedun called for a vote, which was unanimously upheld by the chamber, solidifying the Assembly’s full support for Governor Adeleke’s leadership and re-election bid.
