 Aguiyi Orders Investigation into Trans Nkisi Mining Site Over Environmental Compliance By Amaka Isikala The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has ordered an investigation into the environmental compliance status of a mining site at Trans Nkisi, Onitsha, following concerns over extensive land degradation and its possible contribution to the growing gully erosion threatening the community. The directive followed an inspection visit to the site on August 1, during which the commissioner was accompanied by leaders of the Trans Nkisi community. The visit formed part of the ministry's ongoing assessment of environmentally sensitive locations across the state in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Fifth Pillar of Development, Environment and Urban Regeneration.  Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Denies Allegations of Smear Campaign Against Senate President Akpabio


Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has refuted claims by UK-based Nigerian businesswoman Sandra Duru, also known as Prof. Mgbeke, who accused her of orchestrating a media campaign against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.


In a Facebook livestream on Thursday, May 1, Duru alleged that Senator Natasha falsely accused Akpabio of sexual harassment and offered her millions of naira and US dollars to join a campaign aimed at ousting the Senate President. Duru claimed the plot was designed to weaken President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by removing a key ally in the National Assembly. She supported her accusations with audio recordings, which she claimed were phone conversations with the senator.


In a statement on Friday, Senator Natasha dismissed the allegations as fabricated, accusing Duru of acting on behalf of Akpabio. “I have carefully watched a livestream done by one Sandra C. Duru on Facebook, on May 1, 2025. The content of the livestream, including the voice attributed to me, is entirely untrue and has been manipulated to serve Sandra Duru’s ulterior motive of executing Senator Godswill Akpabio’s script,” Natasha stated. She further noted that the words attributed to her were false and that Duru previously operated under the alias Prof. Mgbeke on Facebook.
