NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  Suspected Rapist Machetes 14-Year-Old Girl into Coma in Abia

A 14-year-old girl, Felicia, is in a coma after being brutally attacked with a machete by a suspected rapist, Chinazum Ubani, in Obete Nchina Village, Ntighauzo community, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State. The incident occurred when Felicia and her peers were fetching firewood in a bush, where Ubani allegedly attempted to rape her.

According to reports, Felicia resisted the assault, prompting Ubani to attack her with a machete, inflicting deep cuts on her head, leg, and hand. He fled the scene, leaving her in a pool of blood. Felicia’s companions, who escaped the attack, alerted her family. Her father, Chijioke Anaba, said a search party found her unconscious due to severe blood loss and rushed her to a hospital.

Anaba alleged that the Eastern Ngwa Division of the Nigeria Police demanded N30,000 to register the case, despite visiting Felicia in the hospital. He expressed fears that Ubani, a resident of the same village, might be released from custody and continue targeting his family. Anaba disputed police claims that Ubani is mentally unstable, stating, “The police are saying he is a mad man, but it’s not true. I’m afraid Chinazum may be released to kill my daughter.”

He urged the police to thoroughly investigate, warning that Ubani poses a danger to the community. Anaba also appealed to Priscilla Otti, wife of Abia State Governor, for assistance, noting that Felicia may face permanent disability due to her injuries. The police have arrested Ubani, but concerns remain about the handling of the case as Felicia fights for her life.
